FASCIA STRETCH THERAPY

Fascia stretch therapy is a pain-free table-based form of assisted stretching. This form of stretching focuses on the fascia lining surrounding muscles, joints, nerves, and even organs. Gentle traction is applied to the joint which is then followed by a stretch while the patient lies in a comfortable position.

Stretching will help increase your range of motion and improve your flexibility. This may help reduce the risk of injury, increase circulation, improve performance, and decrease chronic pain.

THE GRASTON TECHNIQUE

The Graston technique, a form of manual therapy, involves the utilization of specialized instruments designed for soft tissue release. These instruments are used with emollient to smoothly glide across the skin, targeting and working into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The distinctive design of these instruments facilitates the breakdown of scar tissue and fascial restrictions, ultimately expediting the rehabilitation process. Graston may be used in both chronic and acute phases of healing, with treatment goals focused on the restoration of range of motion, pain reduction, and the restoration of normal bodily function.

A versatile therapeutic approach, the Graston technique demonstrates its effectiveness in addressing various tendonopathies, including conditions like achilles tendinosis/itis, rotator cuff tendinosis/itis, lateral and medial epicondylosis, scar tissue mobilization, plantar fasciitis, as well as knee, back, neck, and shoulder pain. By strategically incorporating this technique into rehabilitation programs, individuals aim to achieve enhanced outcomes by alleviating pain, restoring mobility, and optimizing functional capabilities, ultimately improving their overall quality of life.

ACUPUNCTURE

Dr. MacIntyre, ND received his four-year training in acupuncture at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Acupuncture may be used to address musculoskeletal concerns by reducing muscle tightness, increasing blood flow, lowering localized pain, and ultimately promoting tissue healing. Dr. MacIntyre may utilize both dry needling and electrical stimulation in his acupuncture sessions. Often acupuncture is combined with other modalities such as muscle stripping or stretching depending on the patient’s condition and desired outcome.

ABOUT MYSELF

My journey in becoming a naturopathic doctor began with an undergraduate honors degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Wilfrid Laurier University. After completing this four year degree I went on to complete my four year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Throughout my eight years in school there was a strong emphasis on research which continues to guide my decision-making in practice. As a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor I pride myself in providing my patients with safe evidence-based treatments rooted in research.

In my practice, I take a complementary approach working along side medical doctor treatments in a safe and effective manner to manage chronic disease.

My strongest interest in private practice is supporting my patient's musculoskeletal concerns. I've completed additional training to become certified in fascial stretch therapy granting me the ability to provide a safe and effective form of assisted stretching. This along with additional techniques allows me to address a wide variety of MSK concerns.

Beyond musculoskeletal pain, I have interest in weight loss, athletic performance, high blood pressure, stress and fatigue, diabetes, gut health, joint pain, nutritional support, sleep, and much more. Book a free consultation with me if you want to learn more about how I can support your health goals!
